Preschool Program

The preschool program just got over. It was great! I have to say there is nothing cuter than a bunch or 3 and 4 year olds singing songs. Marshall was front and center and he did great. All the kids did a good job and none of them did anything to embarass themselves years down the road ;) Of course my batteries on my digitial camera decided to give up about 2 minutes into the program so I didn't get very many pictures but here is one I managed to get.

Tommorrow is Marshall's First Program

Tomorrow night is the big night, Marshall's first singing program. It's the preschool singing program and it's going to be held at the St. Johns church here in Clarence. I'm sure it's going to be quite the affair with many kids doing things to both embarrass and amuse their parents. I will be sure to get pictures and a written account of the event online a quick as possible. I'm sure there will be plenty of funny tales!

Kids Are like Little Sponges

Well I've had my first public lesson in having to watch what I say around Marshall. Today Jen, Clancey, Marshall, and I all went into Cedar Rapids for our weekly shopping trip. We were on our last stop of the day at Aldi's. I had decided to stay in the car with Clancey while Jen and Marshall went into to the store to do the shopping. While they were in the store Marshall saw an elderly woman pushing a cart and remarked "Watch out mommy! Old people don't drive very well."
Well those of you that know me, know that I'm a firm believer that old people shouldn't have licenses and, from time to time, have been know to say things of that nature. Well anyways Jen was horrified that Marshall said that and tried to correct him by saying "Everyone is a bad driver sometimes."
Marshall retorts "Yes everyone is a bad driver sometimes but old people don't know how to drive."
Jen, now certain that I must have been the culprit that put this in Marshall's head and trying to ease the tension between the elderly woman and herself states "Well your daddy is a bad driver sometimes."
Once again Marshall retorts "Yeah daddy is a bad driver sometimes but old people don't know how to drive!"
Well at this point Jen realized that Marshall was not going to correct what he said. So in an effort to prevent further embarrassment she moved on!

It appears I'm going to have to start watching what I say in front of my little guy or I'm going to constantly be in trouble with my wife!

Updated Clancey Pictures

My blog has been a little light on Clancey updates lately so I thought I would post some updated pictures for everyone. Otherwise there really isn't anything new on the Clancey front. He pretty much eats, sleeps, poops, and crys just like most other 2 weeks olds. I do have to say he is a really good baby though. For the most part he really doesn't cry all that much and sleeps way better then Marshall did at this age.

Marshall and My Fall Fun

Nothing like spending a nice warm fall day raking leaves and then jumping into them. I think this is the first year that Marshall has really got to do that and let me tell you he had a really great time. I've posted some pictures of our day.

I might be working too much

The other day Marshall and I were boxing in the den when he stopped me to ask "Daddy to you have a bed at Rockwell Collins?" I told him no that my bed is here at the house. So he then asked "Daddy where do you sleep?". Once again I told him that I sleep at the house. So finally he asks "Daddy where do you live?". I tell him that I live here in Clarence.

After that exchange I'm beginning to think I may spend a little too much time at work!

Clancey is growing like a weed

Yesturday Clancey had his first doctors appointment and he weighed 8lbs 11oz that is one pound more then when he was born. I guess all of his eating is paying off because they generally say they like the baby's to be back to birth weight by now so he is doing a good job.

We did notice that he is starting to get his baby pimples just like Marshall did but they should go away quickly. Other then that I really don't have too much new to report on the family front.

Daddy's First Diaper Incident

On Saturday we decided to take the whole family on a trip to Cedar Rapids to do some shopping. Up to this point I have not actually changed one of Clancey's diapers but finally on Saturday, while we were shopping, I took on the challenge and let's just say it didn't go so well.

We we're on our last stop of the day at Aldi's and Jen decided that just her and Marshall would go in and she let me in charge of Clancey out in the Durango with the task of changing his diaper. I told her I was up to the task and decided I would open up the back hatch and change him there. So I took Clancey's diaper off, cleaned him up with a wet wipe and started digging through the diaper bag for a diaper, all the while Clancey is laying there diaperless. All of a sudden out of nowhere I see this little fountain of pee and at first I had absolutely no idea what was going on. Suddenly I realize that, oh crap, it's Clancey and he is peeing everywhere. I had forgotten to cover him up with something to prevent things like this. By the time it was all over Clancey and managed to pee all over himself and dad had learned a lesson about changing diapers. :)

First Day back at work

Yesturday was my first day back to work after Clancey was born. Jen was a little nervous to have to handle Clancey and try to get Marshall off to preschool before 8:30 but, of course, Jen handled it with ease. Marshall woke up in a good mood, helped get his clothes on and was out the door. Jen packed Clancey in the Baby Bjorne and walked Marsh up to preschool. Things went well which makes me happy.

On a side note I do have to comment on how good of baby Clancey has been so far. The only time he crys is when he gets his diaper changed, is hungry, or takes a bath. Otherwise he is sleeping or just looking around trying to take the world in. Just like Marshall he is a very aware baby and really likes to study things.
